Water Conservation Tips
Maximize dishwasher efficiency – Automatic dishwashers use 15 gallons per cycle, regardless of load size. Always run a full load to save water.
Turn off the tap – Save water by turning off the faucet while brushing your teeth or shaving.
Check for faucet leaks – Even a slow drip can waste 15–20 gallons per day, adding up to 6,000 gallons a year.
Test your toilet for leaks – Add a few drops of food coloring to the tank. If the color appears in the bowl within minutes, you have a leak. A leaking toilet can waste up to 100 gallons daily, leading to 30,000 gallons lost annually—a common cause of high water bills.
Water your lawn wisely – Only water when necessary and do so before 10:00 AM to reduce evaporation.
Use your water meter to detect leaks – Before bed, turn off all taps and appliances that use water. Take a meter reading, then check it again in the morning. If the number has changed, you likely have a leak.
By following these simple steps, you can help conserve water and reduce your utility costs!
